10 Days Tanzania and Kenya Safaris Program

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara Game Reserve
This is the beginning of 10 Days Tanzania and Kenya Safaris. You will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi in the morning and transferred to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, located 5-6 hours drive away from Nairobi. Enjoy game drives en-route before dinner and overnight stay at your camp.

Day 2: Full Day at Maasai Mara Game Reserve
The Masai Mara with its savannahs, grasslands and undulating hills all combine to set the scene for the splendor of a Kenyan safari. Spend a full day in this wild game park to experience the ultimate adventure in Kenya before returning to camp.

Day 3: Maasai Mara to Serengeti National Park
Today, you cross the Kenya-Tanzania border and arrive at the world-famous Serengeti National Park. This is the long dry season and the wildebeest migration is moving north with the thundershowers. The period from July to September is the time when wildebeest herds cross the Mara River in the very north of the Serengeti in an area called Kogatende before they migrate to the Maasai Mara in Kenya. This provides for some amazing wildlife viewing.

Day 4: Full day at Serengeti National Park
Many visitors only want to see the river crossings but the true spectacle of the migration is more than 1,500,000 wildebeests, 200,000 Burchell’s zebras, 18,000 elands and 500,000 Thomson’s Gazelles filling the entire stretch of landscape. Spending more days here increases your chance to witness endless herds of wildebeest crossing the Mara River. The shifting columns of the herds as they traverse the valleys and the hills can only be watched in awe. There is nothing else like this on earth. Return to camp in late afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Full Day at Serengeti National Park
Rise early in the morning to catch up with the early risers. You can go for an optional hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti plains. (Extra fees apply.) Or, go for a morning drive for an amazing game viewing experience.
There is no bad time to visit the Serengeti as every season has its own special highlight – even the rainy season has the daily thunder and lightning to look forward to. Changing seasons and light patterns form the most beautiful backdrop to view Africa’s majestic and incredible wildlife.

Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater rim
Enjoy morning game drive in central and southern Serengeti then drive toward Ngorongoro Crater rim via Olduvai Gorge. You can have an optional stop in the Olduvai area, where the hominid and other significant archaeological discoveries have been made. In late afternoon, proceed to your lodge located on the crater rim for relaxation and overnight stay. The world-famous Ngorongoro Crater is at the eastern edge of the Serengeti in northern Tanzania. Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera of the once-volcanic Ngorongoro shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth, ringed with towering walls and sheltering forests, grasslands, fresh springs and a large soda lake. Day 8: Tarangire National Park to Arusha
Tarangire National Park is probably one of the least visited of the northern Tanzanian game parks, and retains a real air of undiscovered Africa, particularly in the south of the park. Just two hours drive away from Arusha. It lies a little distance to the south east of Lake Manyara and covers an area of approximately 2,850 square kilometers. It is named after the Tarangire River that flows through the park. The swamps, tinged green year round, are the focus for 550 bird varieties, the largest number of species in one habitat anywhere in the world; on drier ground, the Kori bustard – the heaviest flying bird – can be found.
